Edmonton Public Schools
The Edmonton Public School Board is a board consisting of nine elected trustees who oversee for a term of four years. These trustees are responsible for the eduction of over 98,000 students in Edmonton in more than 200 public schools.
The Edmonton Public School programming follows the curriculum of Alberta Education for each grade within the school system.

Which Edmonton Public School will be mine?
The choice is the foundation of the Edmonton Public School District approach to education. They operate with open boundaries allowing families to consider which school best suits their needs. Every home address in Edmonton has a designated public school. It’s essential to keep in mind that your chosen school isn’t always the closest to your home.
Is my child guaranteed to get into our designated school?
Students are guaranteed entry to their designated if they enroll on April 16. Parents and students may also choose to attend any other school within the District, as long as:
- The school has space
- The student meets any entrance requirements of that school

To keep up with the ever-growing demands for education, the Edmonton Public Schools board is currently building new facilities or performing major modernizations to existing schools.

Edmonton Catholic Schools
The Edmonton Catholic Separate School District No. 7 is a board consisting of seven elected trustees who oversee for a term of four years. District No. 7 is the fourth largest school district in the province and the second-largest Catholic school district west of Metropolitan Toronto. District No. 7 consists of a total of 104 schools educating over 42,000 students.
Edmonton Catholic Schools follows the curriculum determined by Alberta Education, offered within the context of a Catholic Christian community.

Edmonton Catholic Schools feature an open boundary system, meaning that students are free to enroll at the school of their choice, depending on if there are adequate resources and a suitable education program.
Is My Child Guaranteed to Get Into Our Chosen School?
Within each region of the City of Edmonton is associated with a designated feeder school. That means the students within a particular “catchment area” or school boundary are entitled to attend specific feeder schools.
